Whether you are making a nice brunch or having breakfast during the holidays, this Challah French Toast dish is a perfect way to start your morning. The smell will waft through your home, and everyone will be waiting to dive in. This is definitely a personal favorite, as it is a traditional dish we eat every Christmas morning.
Ingredients
1 loaf challah bread
7 eggs, beaten
2 ½ cups milk
2 tablespoons sugar
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
½ teaspoon cinnamon
Topping Ingredients
½ cup flour
6 tablespoons brown sugar ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ cup softened butter or margarine
Directions
Grease a casserole dish with butter.
Slice challah bread and arrange into two layers.
Mix together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon
Pour mixture over challah. Ensure all parts of challah are covered. If not all parts were covered, you can flip over the top pieces to make sure all challah has some mixture on it.
Allow to soak and refrigerate overnight.
Next morning, bring the dish to room temperature.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Combine ingredients (flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, softened butter) for topping. Use a fork to make the mixture crumbly.
Sprinkle topping over the casserole.

Serve warm and enjoy!
